Are you pregnant? Do you have a daughter? Are you excited but a little nervous about introducing your daughter to her new sibling? I'm a Big Sister teaches your daughter that she is special and can share love with her new sibling. The book teaches practical facts like babies cry to communicate a need, enjoy milk, and a baby has limitations such as not being able to run, play, or eat ice cream. This book is a nice introduction to the exciting news of a new baby.

Book Review: What Are Clouds Made of? And Other Questions About the World Around Us. Scholastic.
If you are interested in teaching a simple science lesson to your child this book is helpful. There are several thought provoking questions such as: "Do trees breathe?, "Can fish hear things?, and "Why is the sky blue?" An added bonus are the interactive pull and flip flaps on each page. Just be sure to supervise during this book lesson because the flaps can be easily torn.
Book Review: Stories Told by Mother Teresa. Compiled by Edward Le Joly & Jaya Chaliha. Illustrated by Allan Drummond.
This book is a warm, touching, collection of eleven stories that illustrate the powerful impact of Christian charity. One particular story tells how a small child with a big heart helps an entire household of poor children. In the story, Mother Teresa tells a young boy that the Sisters have no sugar for the children. The boy sacrifices his portion of sugar for three days and then donates it to Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa responds, "That little boy was so young he could hardly say my name but he loved with great love. He taught me that it is not how much we give, but how much love we put in that giving that is important." What a great message for all children to hear!

Book Review: Search & Find: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. Illustrated by Jonathan Miller.
This book is great for toddlers and young children. The bright and fun pictures will captivate their attention and encourage them to revisit this book again and again.
If you are looking for a way to expand your child's vocabulary, this is a good start. Parents can spend time looking through the book and labeling objects and their appropriate season. After some practice, children will be able to point at the correct object when mom or dad say the name. Search and Find books are proven to help with early reading skills too, so find cozy place in your house, and dive into this book!
Are You Ready to Read?
I recently discovered a blog that stressed the importance of reading to your children. I was so inspired that I decided to post reviews of children's books on this blog. I will have all kinds of children's books on here including fiction, non-fiction, picture books and Catholic books. We all know that there are so many children's books out there that it can be overwhelming when you want to purchase some for your children. This blog will help you narrow your search and maybe give you some ideas about what will captivate the imagination for your child. Take the time to read at least one story to your child every day!
